Program details

Overview

This is a 90-credit undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.A.A.) with a concentration in human resources management. Thirty credits cover general business management foundations, and sixty credits focus on human resources topics such as recruitment and talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, occupational health and safety, training and development, labour relations, collective bargaining, and organizational change. The program is offered full-time or part-time at the Montreal campus, with admission in the fall and winter terms. Students complete a mandatory paid internship of at least 245 hours after finishing 60 credits, and may pursue an additional optional unpaid internship. Students with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher can take nine credits of graduate-level coursework that count toward both the bachelor's degree and a possible future master's degree. The program is designed for students seeking comprehensive training across the full range of human resources functions, with a path toward professional HR certification (CRHA) without additional examinations.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission is normally via a Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) or equivalent Quebec diploma with a minimum cote de rendement (cote R) of 22; candidates scoring 21-21.99 are redirected to the certificate in human resources management. There is no admission on a work-experience basis. Applicants with prior university study need at least 12 university credits completed with a cumulative average of 2.5/4.3 or better, and those with a diploma from outside Quebec need at least 13 years of schooling and a minimum average of 12/20, with conditional admission via 24 remedial credits at 2.5/4.3 available below that threshold. All candidates must prove French proficiency through the DEC's uniform French exam, the Quebec ministry's written test, or UQAM's own written French test; francophone-university graduates are exempt. Candidates lacking the required mathematics background are admitted conditionally on passing the remedial course MAT1002, waivable via a placement test. Admission is offered in the fall and winter trimesters.
