This 30-credit certificate gives students essential theoretical knowledge of geological materials, landforms, and processes, together with the technical and practical skills to carry out laboratory and field work in geology. It is designed both for people already working in geology-related fields and for those seeking a structured scientific and technical grounding in the discipline. Coursework combines classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory and field components covering the composition, formation, and analysis of geological materials. The certificate suits candidates working in or entering mining, construction, environmental, or geoscience-related roles, as well as science and geography teachers seeking to deepen their subject knowledge. The program is offered at Universite du Quebec a Montreal on a full-time or part-time basis, with admission in the fall and winter trimesters.
