The Doctorate in Social Work (Doctorat en travail social) at Université du Québec à Montréal trains high-level specialists able to examine the theoretical and practical foundations of social work, preparing graduates for university teaching, research, social policy development, practice evaluation, and social service management. Admission is offered in the fall term only. Applicants must hold a master's degree (or the equivalent) in social work, completed with a cumulative average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.3 scale; files between 2.8 and 3.2 may be considered exceptionally. Applicants must have secured a thesis supervisor's agreement before applying, and must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of English to understand scientific texts.
