The Master's in Dance (Maîtrise en danse) at Université du Québec à Montréal trains professionals to act as leaders in the development of dance and the study of the moving body, including somatic education, in Quebec and internationally. The program deepens knowledge of dance and somatic practice and develops students' capacity for reflection, conceptualization, and synthesis through a creation, research, or intervention project. It is offered through a creation profile and a research profile, with a research-intervention thesis option also available. The program totals 45 credits and runs over a nominal two years full-time or four years part-time, with courses offered during the day and in the evening; admission is open at the fall term for full-time and part-time study, and at the winter term for part-time study only. Admission to the creation profile requires a bachelor's degree in dance completed with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on a 4.3 scale; the research profile requires a bachelor's degree in dance or in another field related to movement. Applicants must master French and have sufficient knowledge of English, and must submit a statement of research intent, a CV, and, for the creation profile, a video recording.
