The Master of Music in Performance: Conducting is a thesis-based program offered by the Schulich School of Music. It provides concentrated podium time and hands-on rehearsal experience across orchestral, wind band, choral, and small ensemble settings, alongside score study and artistic research culminating in a thesis. Students work with faculty experienced on international stages in orchestral, wind, contemporary, early music, and choral repertoire, and rehearse with ensembles such as the McGill Wind Orchestra, McGill Symphony Orchestra, Schulich Singers, and University Chorus. The program builds skills in rehearsal technique, gesture, communication, and repertoire programming. Students have access to performance spaces, research and production laboratories, and extensive music library resources. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and English-language proficiency. The program admits students for the Fall intake only.
