The Certificate in Territorial Management in Indigenous Contexts is a 30-credit UQAT certificate addressing the personal and professional needs of students by developing knowledge and skills in Indigenous territorial management, covering territorial dynamics, the regulatory and legal framework, forestry, mining, energy, and tourism-industry resource development, Indigenous cartography, and relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. After a preparatory Introduction to Indigenous Studies activity, required courses cover the Indigenous relationship with territory, Indigenous territorial knowledge, the regulatory and legal framework for territorial management, forestry, mining, and energy development in an Indigenous context, Indigenous cartography, and the tourism industry and its environment. Students choose two electives from courses on leadership and ethics, communication and intervention in an Indigenous setting, Indigenous realities, or Arctic issues, or from other first-cycle courses offered by the School of Indigenous Studies with programme-coordinator approval.
