This PhD programme (90 credits, code 358F) develops and integrates knowledge across environmental-science research fields, training researchers able to formulate a research problem, analyse the dynamics of an environmental system, design a study strategy, and complete original doctoral research independently. It is deliberately multidisciplinary, drawing on staff and resources from several departments, multi-faculty research supervision, and the infrastructure of the Institut des sciences de l'environnement and affiliated interuniversity research centres, with UQAT-specific research areas in forest management and environment, wood-material characterization and processing, social sciences and regional development, and new and renewable energy. It is offered jointly by UQAM in association with UQTR, UQAC, UQAR, and UQAT, spanning the departments of earth sciences, chemistry, geography, and biology, at UQAT's Amos and Rouyn-Noranda campuses. Full-time study takes 4 years and part-time study takes 6 years, and graduates receive the Ph. D. designation.
