Overview

This graduate diploma, offered jointly across the Universite du Quebec network (UQTR, UQAC, UQAR, UQO and UQAT), trains registered nurses for advanced practice as nurse practitioners in primary care. The 30-credit, three-term program builds clinical judgment for promoting, maintaining and restoring patient health, grounded in nursing science and evidence-based practice. Courses cover the epistemological foundations of nursing science, the advanced-practice nurse role, pharmacology, research and statistics in advanced practice, health-education interventions, psychopathology and therapeutic approaches, and three sequential courses in advanced primary-care nursing practice alongside two advanced clinical-evaluation courses, preparing graduates to exercise the expanded scope of practice under section 36.1 of Quebec's Nurses Act and to take on clinical, transformational and policy leadership roles.
