Overview
The Baccalaureat en sciences infirmieres at UQAT is a 90-credit bachelor's degree for already-licensed nurses (holders of a Quebec nursing DEC), 21 of whose credits are recognized in equivalence for prior college-level nursing study. The program trains generalist clinicians in autonomous, creative and innovative professional nursing practice with individuals, families, groups and communities, focused on supporting clients through health-related transitions and helping them maintain or build autonomy, decision-making capacity and health potential across the lifespan. Coursework covers pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, clinical examination, cardiology, research methods in health, community and public health nursing, family nursing intervention, grief and palliative and end-of-life care, wound care, nursing management, and cultural safety for First Nations and Inuit clients, together with supervised clinical placements including options in critical care, community/public health, or international nursing practice. Applicants must already hold an unrestricted licence to practise nursing in Quebec. The program is not offered entirely at a distance.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Diplome d'etudes collegiales (DEC) in nursing (version 180.01 or later) or the equivalent, must be authorized to practise the nursing profession in Quebec and provide proof of this at the time of application, and must demonstrate French-language proficiency per UQAT's institutional policy. Holders of a nursing DEC are granted 21 credits of recognition in equivalence.
