This Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) in nursing sciences, specialized nurse practitioner profile in pediatric care, prepares licensed nurses for advanced practice with pediatric patients. The 30-credit, three-trimester full-time program develops in-depth advanced-practice knowledge in pediatric care, grounding clinical judgment in situations aimed at promoting, maintaining, or restoring children's health. Practice is based on evidence-based research, and graduates are prepared to exercise the expanded scope of practice granted under Article 36.1 of Quebec's Act respecting nurses, assuming clinical, transformational, and policy leadership roles in pediatric and hospital-based care settings, the community, and the wider health system. The program is contingented, with a total of 60 places available across the university's specialized nurse practitioner profiles, and admission is offered in the Fall term at the Gatineau and Saint-Jerome campuses.
