The Graduate Diploma in Oncology, offered by the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology in McGill's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is a one-year, course-based program of two semesters providing specialized training across the field of oncology. Students explore the principles and practice of oncology and its research domains while focusing on one of four areas: Population and Global Cancer Control, Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care, Clinical Cancer Research, or Cancer Care Services and Quality. A practicum project immerses students in a real-world research or quality-improvement project relevant to their chosen focus area, with practical experience in grant application development, experimental design, protocol development, participant screening, data collection and analysis, literature reviews, and quality-improvement design and implementation. The diploma can serve as a pathway into the Master's in Experimental Surgery (Non-Thesis) program. As of Fall 2025 the program is on hold and not currently accepting applications.
