The Graduate Diploma in Oral Medicine, offered by McGill's Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences, is a three-year specialty program combining clinical practice with the underlying foundations of knowledge and teaching in oral medicine. Training covers diagnosis and management of oral mucosal diseases, temporomandibular joint disorders and orofacial pain, other neurosensory disorders, oral manifestations of systemic disease, non-surgical salivary gland disorders, and oral and dental management of medically complex patients. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach within hospital clinics, involving collaboration with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and cancer care programs, and includes clinical rotations across specialties alongside a research component. Students also gain exposure to sleep medicine under the guidance of specialists in the field. Successful completion makes graduates eligible to sit the Royal College of Dentists of Canada fellowship and specialty examination. The program admits students in the Fall term.
