Overview
This certificate develops competencies in financial-asset valuation, portfolio management, and market and corporate finance. The 30-credit program is nominally one year of full-time study, and can be completed in two sessions if started in the Fall term; up to 15 credits of prior learning may be recognized. Six required courses (18 credits) are paired with 12 elective credits chosen from nine options. Courses are offered on campus, at a distance, and in hybrid format, with some courses taught in English. Admission is offered in the Fall, Winter, and Summer terms. The certificate is aimed at students building applied finance skills either as a standalone credential or alongside another program of study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requirements vary by applicant background. Quebec DEC holders need a DEC en sciences, lettres et arts, DEC en sciences de la nature, or DEC en sciences informatiques et mathematiques; a DEC en techniques administratives is accepted when specified mathematics objectives are met, and other DEC holders must complete three mathematics courses meeting the required objectives. Applicants from elsewhere in Canada need a high school diploma plus one year of university study, with satisfactory preparation in mathematics. International applicants need a pre-university diploma totalling 13 years of schooling, or 12 years plus one year of higher education, with satisfactory mathematics preparation. Candidacy is assessed on the overall quality of the academic record.
