This 45-credit, thesis-based Master of Science trains researchers in the structure, metabolism, genetics and ecology of microorganisms, with laboratory and field-based training applied to health, agriculture and environmental sectors. Students carry out original supervised research culminating in a thesis, and the program is designed for completion in two years of full-time study. Admission sessions run in fall, winter and summer. Some courses are offered at a distance, in hybrid format, or comodally. Before applying, candidates must secure a research supervisor by contacting one of the program's professors, since the thesis project is built around that supervisor's research program. The degree prepares graduates for doctoral studies or research and technical roles in microbiology across public health, agri-food, environmental and biotechnology sectors, building on strong laboratory technique alongside written and spoken French and working knowledge of written English.
