This Master of Arts in Political Science with thesis is a 45-credit, thesis-based graduate programme offered by Universite Laval's Faculty of Social Sciences. It trains students in research methods, from formulating a research question through data analysis to disseminating results, across the subfields of political science, including comparative politics, international relations, public administration, and political theory. Students take a set of core and elective courses before undertaking independent research supervised by a confirmed thesis director, culminating in a written thesis and its defence. Applicants must identify a potential research director before or during the admission process and submit a curriculum vitae, a one-page motivation letter and a roughly two-page description of the intended research project, supported by two letters of appreciation. The programme can be completed full-time or part-time and prepares graduates for doctoral studies or research, analysis and policy roles in government, international organisations and the private sector.
