Overview
The Bachelor of Science with Honors in Integrative Physiology examines the processes that occur within living organisms, including the regulation of function at the sub-cellular, cellular, tissue, organ, and whole-organism levels and how these levels interact. Areas of study include endocrinology, neurophysiology, developmental biology, immunology, cell signaling, toxicology, and environmental physiology across a range of organisms. As an Honors degree in the Faculty of Science, the programme embeds a research thesis project and requires students to maintain a higher academic standard than the BSc Major. Students may add a minor from the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, though a double major is not permitted. The programme is delivered by the Faculty of Science and is also offered as a BSc Major. Graduates pursue careers such as biomedical technologist, biotechnologist, medical laboratory technologist, government or industrial consultant, laboratory technician, and roles in the pharmaceutical, agriculture and food, and brewing industries, or continue to professional or graduate study in fields such as medicine and veterinary medicine.
