The Graduate Diploma in Chartered Professional Accountancy is offered by the Telfer School of Management as a direct-entry continuation of the Specialization in Accounting within the Bachelor of Commerce. Together with that specialization, the diploma satisfies the Chartered Professional Accountant Competency Map established by CPA Canada and prepares graduates to enter the capstone modules of the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP). Coursework addresses advanced competencies in financial accounting, audit and assurance, strategy and management accounting, finance, and taxation, focused on non-routine and complex transactions not covered at the undergraduate level, alongside enabling competencies in professional and ethical behaviour, problem solving, communication, self-management, and teamwork and leadership. The diploma requires five graduate courses (15 units): Advanced Competencies in Financial Accounting; in Audit, Assurance and Governance; in Strategy and Management Accounting; and in Taxation, culminating in an Integration of Advanced Competencies in Accountancy capstone course. Full-time students complete the diploma requirements in one term.
