Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy prepares students for the Chartered Professional Accountant designation and is accredited by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. Since 2015, the CPA designation has been the only accounting designation in Canada. Delivered as an intensive fourteen-week, course-based program, it combines structured coursework with faculty three days a week and applied, competency-focused learning with teaching assistants two days a week. Admission requires a four-year Honours Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution with completed accounting or business coursework, a minimum B+ average equal to a McMaster 9.0 GPA across third- and fourth-year required courses, and a minimum grade of 60% in each required CPA course; specific requirements vary by applicant category. The program starts in May each year and is administered through the DeGroote School of Business.
