Overview
Composition is a specialization within the Bachelor of Music with Honours at Western University's Don Wright Faculty of Music. Admission requires six approved Grade 12U and/or M-level courses, including English (ENG4U), together with the Faculty's recommendation on the basis of an audition and interview; proficiency equivalent to Royal Conservatory of Music Level 6 Piano and Level 6 Music Theory is strongly recommended, though not required, before entrance. Following a Common First Year, the programme runs across Second Year, Third Year and Fourth Year course requirements, for a total four-year Honours Bachelor of Music degree. The Composition stream focuses on the creation and craft of original music, combining the Faculty's core music theory, history and performance coursework with specialized composition study across the four years of the programme.
