Music Recording Arts (MRA) is a five-year integrated collaborative program between Western University's Don Wright Faculty of Music and Fanshawe College. Graduates receive both a Bachelor of Music degree from Western and a two-year Ontario College Diploma in Music Industry Arts from Fanshawe College. Students first gain admission to Western's general Bachelor of Music program, meeting the same audition and interview requirements as other Bachelor of Music applicants. Entry into the MRA stream occurs partway through the degree: students apply near the end of their second year of general Bachelor of Music study, and up to ten students are admitted each year based on academic standing, reviewed jointly by a committee from both institutions. The later years of the program combine continued academic coursework at Western with diploma-level training in recording and music industry practice delivered at Fanshawe College, giving graduates both a university degree and a college-level technical credential.
