PhD in Kinesiology & Health Science

The PhD in Kinesiology & Health Science is offered by York University's Faculty of Health. The program is primarily research-based, with study in physiology, neuroscience, biomechanics, and the socio-cultural study of sport, physical activity, and health and fitness behaviours. Students undertake interdisciplinary research alongside scholars from biology, epidemiology, sociology and the behavioural health sciences. It is one of several graduate credentials offered by the unit, alongside the MA, MSc, Master of Fitness Science and Master of Athletic Therapy. Admission requires a master's degree with a minimum B+ average, relevant coursework, and an assessment of suitability for the program. A resume or CV and two letters of recommendation are also required, along with a 500-word statement of interest. Most students are admitted for Fall entry.
