Program details
Overview
Yukon University's Multimedia Communication Certificate is a one-year, full-time program (minimum three semesters for a January start) that builds communication skills alongside a foundation in design and software literacy. Students learn industry-standard creative software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and develop storytelling skills across media, design, and communication within a northern context. The program can be taken full- or part-time and begins in September or January. Full-time students are expected to have basic computer skills before starting, and the program runs on Apple's operating system, so students need access to compatible hardware. Coursework also includes the Yukon First Nations Core Competency requirement. Graduates earn a Multimedia Communication certificate and are prepared for roles in media production, graphic design, and communications work.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need ENGL 11 with a minimum of 65%, or ENGL 050 with a minimum grade of B-. Part-time students who do not meet these criteria may still enrol in individual courses but must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C average) to continue. Full-time students are expected to have basic computer skills, and all students complete the Yukon First Nations Core Competency requirement.
