Diploma in Byggingariðnfræði

Byggingariðnfræði is a diploma programme in building technology run by the Department of Engineering Technology at Reykjavik University. It lasts three years, carries 90 ECTS credits and leads to the protected title byggingariðnfræðingur. Distance learning is possible, while exchange study is not. The programme is aimed at people already working in industry who want to strengthen their position in the labour market. Students build a foundation for construction-related work through varied courses and a practical final project. Main subjects include building science, structural analysis, computer-aided design in Revit, management and operations, and materials science. Graduates work for contractors and engineering firms, in building inspection, or as site managers. Completing the diploma can lead to master craftsman rights and the title iðnfræðingur, and it is credited in full toward the BSc in building science for those who want to continue studying.
