This master's programme prepares medical physicists for healthcare and research institutions working with radiation technologies, covering radiation physics, radiometry, dosimetry, and the physical basis of radiation safety alongside human anatomy, physiology, and radiobiology. Students study the effects of ionising and non-ionising radiation on biological tissue, modern imaging and diagnostic equipment, nuclear and nanomedicine, and the legal framework governing medical radiation technologies.
Learning outcomes include applying mathematical dose-planning and experimental dosimetry methods, performing quality-control measurements of clinical equipment, and taking on the role of radiation-safety instructor in emergency situations. Graduates are trained to work in radiation therapy, radiation diagnostics, and nuclear medicine departments, perform dosimetric measurements and advise on radiopharmaceutical use in therapy and diagnostics, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of medical staff, engineers, and technologists developing new radiation devices.
