BA/BS in Recreation and tourism

Subjects progress from an introduction to tourism and recreation, the history of art and culture, and cultural heritage into tourism and recreation management, resort studies, strategic planning, the management of tourism innovations, excursion preparation and guiding methods, tourism law, and tourism business data systems, with a bachelor's thesis and placements including an ecotourism practice and two enterprise internships. Electives let students focus on water tourism, rural tourism, smart urban tourism, MICE tourism, or sustainable tourism. Learning outcomes include integrating management theories and methods into international tourism and recreation business processes, collecting and analysing data to identify national and international trends and predict market developments within a social and economic policy context, and assessing how consumers, companies, and organisations make decisions and optimise performance across different tourism and recreation markets. Students also learn to apply statistical, geoinformation, and econometric methods to plan and assess tourism processes, gather and systematise data to solve the development problems of tourism businesses, destinations, or countries, and communicate professionally in more than one language.
