BA/BS in General Practice Nursing

Half of the total study time is devoted to practical training, beginning with simulated clinical scenarios using mannequins and model patients in safe laboratory conditions before moving into real hospitals, healthcare centres, communities, and patients' homes. The subject list covers anatomy, microbiology, pharmacology, medical and surgical nursing, elderly and child care, community and mental health nursing, and nursing research methodology, while eighty-seven credits of practice rotate through medical, surgical, elderly, child and family, pregnancy and midwifery, community, and mental health nursing before a final practice and thesis. Learning outcomes include integrating nursing and other sciences into personal, family, and community care, providing first and urgent medical aid in acute, life-threatening, or disaster situations, applying leadership skills to independently determine and plan nursing needs, and teaching individuals, families, and groups about health preservation and disease prevention. Students have the option of completing part of their studies abroad through international exchange partnerships.
