This master's degree prepares software engineers to carry out independent research and to lead projects that build, maintain and improve software processes across different application areas, making reasoned decisions even with limited information. Theoretical study accounts for forty-five percent of credits, split between compulsory and optional subjects, while scientific research and the master's thesis make up forty percent and a placement in a Lithuanian or foreign IT organisation or research institution accounts for the remaining fifteen percent. The programme follows a classical computer-science approach, combining theoretical and applied aspects of informatics with training in scientific research skills. Graduates can work as analysts, designers and programmers, progressing with experience into team-leader or project-manager roles in the private or public sector, or managing software and systems maintenance, and can continue into doctoral study in computer science, software engineering, information systems or information technology.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Engineering or Technology; non-EU/EFTA applicants must have completed it no more than five years ago. A remote motivational interview may be requested if the admission committee has questions after reviewing the application. The entrance examination is administered remotely. Qualification documents are accepted in English or Lithuanian.
