This engineering degree responds to the cross-disciplinary skills industry now expects, blending electrical, electronics and automation engineering with communication, health and safety training. Graduates are equipped to take on, and keep running, a broad set of engineering equipment and processes, with particular depth in control systems, electrical machines, networks, power systems and instrumentation.
Depending on the firm they join, BEng graduates may end up highly specialised or take on broader generalist responsibilities; the programme is designed to serve either path. Practical and design skills are developed through laboratory work and coursework exercises, supported by relevant computational tools, with assessment combining coursework, design studies, lab logbooks and project work.
The standard route is an eight-semester full-time programme, open to holders of the Higher School Certificate (or equivalent such as the Brevet de Technicien or Baccalauréat Scientifique) with at least two A-levels including maths and a science subject; admission decisions are made by a jury reviewing applications, interviews and exam results.
