Admission Requirements: DOMESTIC APPLICANTS How to apply. Submit your application online through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM), which manages applications for Vanier and many other Quebec CEGEPs. For a Winter 2027 start, online applications opened 15 September 2026 and Round 1 closes 1 November 2026 at 11:59 pm. Deadlines for other semesters are published by SRAM and on Vanier's admissions page. Vanier's own admissions page groups requirements by applicant type - Quebec secondary-school applicants, out-of-province applicants, and cégep/university/post-secondary applicants - each with its own detail page; every program also lists requirements beyond the college-wide baseline (see program pages). Bill 96/Law 14. All DCS students must complete a total of 5 French courses; students holding a certificate of eligibility for English instruction write the English Exit Exam (EEE) to graduate, while those without a certificate write the Épreuve uniforme de français (EUF); see "Language obligations" below. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS Eligibility - important restriction. As of Winter 2025, international applicants with no status in Canada (applying from abroad) are NO LONGER ELIGIBLE for admission to Vanier. Only international applicants who already hold valid status in Canada may apply, as "regular" applicants through the SRAM system. How to apply. Apply online through SRAM as a regular applicant (SRAM is the external service managing applications, not a Vanier-specific portal). Vanier also considers applicants who completed part of their Quebec secondary schooling here (Secondary 4 and 5). Schooling evaluation. Foreign secondary credentials are evaluated by SRAM, or by a comparative evaluation requested from the Quebec government and submitted with the SRAM application. Language obligations (Bill 96 / Law 14). English-language proficiency testing is NO LONGER an admission requirement for international applicants (as of Winter 2025) - all incoming students instead take an English placement test after acceptance to set their first-semester English course. However, international applicants who did NOT complete their high-school studies in Quebec must demonstrate French proficiency at a minimum of B2 to be admitted; test results are valid for two years from the exam date, and the only exemption is for applicants from France who completed secondary school in French. Accepted French tests: Bright; TCF tout public (TCF Québec and TCF Canada are NOT accepted - required sections: Written Comprehension, Oral Comprehension, Vocabulary and Syntax); DELF tout public niveau B2 (all components); DALF; TEF (TEF Express, TEF Québec and TEF Canada are NOT accepted - required sections: Written Comprehension, Oral Comprehension, Vocabulary and Syntax). Separately, and regardless of admission-time French proficiency, every international student must pass the province's Épreuve uniforme de langue française (EUF) before graduating, per Bill 96/Law 14. After a conditional offer. Submit a final official transcript once in-progress courses are completed. Required documents before registration: a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) from Quebec's immigration ministry; a Canadian study permit from IRCC; and mandatory medical/hospital insurance for the full academic year (Vanier provides this through Greenshield). Processing guidance: allow 4-6 months for the CAQ and study permit combined. Career-program students whose program includes mandatory fieldwork (stage) also need a co-op work permit, applied for alongside the study permit. Costs. International tuition is regulated by the Quebec government (see Vanier's student-fees page for current rates); estimated living costs are about $15,000/year for room and board plus $500-$1,000 for books. International students are not eligible for Quebec student loans and bursaries.
