Overview

Science: Health and Life (200.B1) is a two-year pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies at Vanier College focused on the natural and life sciences, with coursework spanning biology, organic chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Admission requires secondary-level Math TS/SN 506, Physics 504, and Chemistry 504 or their cégep equivalents, and intake runs in both the autumn and winter semesters. Beyond required coursework, students have opportunities to take part in research collaborations and can contribute to Vanier's student-run scientific journal, giving them early exposure to scientific writing and inquiry. The college also provides resource centres, tutoring, and enrichment activities to support students through the science sequence. This profile suits students who know they want to pursue a health-related or biomedical field at university, and graduates commonly go on to programs such as biotechnology, dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, veterinary science, or environmental science, using the two years at Vanier to build the science foundation those university programs expect.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: In addition to Vanier's college-wide requirements: Math TS/SN 506 (or cégep equivalent 201-015-RE); Physics 504 (or cégep equivalent 203-001-RE); Chemistry 504 (or cégep equivalent 202-001-RE). Designed as university-preparatory; admitted students should consult an Academic Advisor for the specific prerequisites of their eventual university program.
