Overview

The Essential Technical Skills for Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Certificate is a part-time program from BCIT's School of Construction and the Environment, delivered in partnership with Ryder Architecture and Gateshead College in the UK. It runs over 14 months for a cohort of up to 24 students, opening with three in-person courses at the Burnaby campus in July and August that cover digital modelling, Revit fundamentals, building technology, and construction project management. Students then complete 12 months of online coursework alongside two paid 23-week work-integrated learning internship placements with ACE industry partners. The program totals 46.0 credits across nine required courses, covering CAD and Revit modelling, materials and methods, systems (structural, mechanical, and electrical), estimating, and business communication for the construction professional. Tuition for the current intake is fully funded through the BC Workplace Innovation Fund, in partnership with Local Practice Architecture and Design, prioritizing under-represented populations including newcomers to Canada and young adults aged 18 to 26. The program is not open to international students. Graduates gain entry-level skills for careers in architecture, construction management, and engineering design-build.
