Overview
Through this program, you’ll learn to shoot and edit video projects at a professional level for storytelling that stands out. Your videos and productions can be used to share information and news stories, establish a personal or corporate brand, or tell an important story by producing your own short documentary.
Each course in this program has been developed by professionals working in their field. By focusing specifically on the essential skills of video storytelling and professional editing, you’ll develop the ability and confidence to create professional videos for a variety of platforms from promotional and educational videos to branding and personal use, or to complement an existing career. In this program you have the option to produce a final project, designed to bring your skills together and demonstrate your proficiency as a videographer.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Video Production and Editing Associate Certificate carries BCIT's Category 2 English requirement: English Studies 12 at 67% or equivalent. Where an applicant relies on a standardized test instead, BCIT's institute-wide Category 2 scale accepts IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 4.5 with every section at least 3.5 (legacy 86), PTE Academic 60 with no skill below 60, CAEL 70 with no component below 60, or Duolingo 120 with no subscore below 95, dated within two years of the program start. No other course, GPA, portfolio, or interview requirement is stated. The program runs three intakes a year, January, April and September, admits on a first-qualified, first-accepted basis, and its associate-certificate credential does not meet Post-Graduation Work Permit eligibility for international graduates.

Application Deadline:BCIT publishes common credential application dates for most cohort-based diplomas, degrees and Flexible Learning routes, though each program's own page governs: for the January 2027 intake domestic applications run 1 February 2026 to 2 January 2027 and international to 1 November 2026; for the April 2027 intake domestic runs 1 May 2026 to 1 April 2027 and international to 1 February 2027; for September 2027 domestic applications open 1 October 2026 and close 1 September 2027, international 2 July 2027. Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
