Techniques for Crime and Intelligence Analysts (TCIA) Microcredential is for professionals working in crime analysis who wish to further develop their analytical skills. It offers intermediate-level courses on industry software, investigative evidence, financial records, and analytical tradecraft for all-source data such as open-source information.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: BCIT requires Program Head approval to register for each course in this microcredential rather than a formal application. Applicants are recommended to either hold a diploma or degree and work as a professional in the crime and intelligence field, or have relevant work experience and an interest in advancing their career skills; this is guidance rather than a stated academic prerequisite. Individual courses carry their own progression thresholds, for example a minimum of 60% in XFSC 3025 to take XFSC 3035, and 60% in both FSCT 7001 and FSCT 7002 to take FSCT 7006, while most courses have no prerequisite. The page states no English-language test score or GPA minimum. International applicants must complete the program from outside Canada or hold valid Canadian status other than a study permit, and must additionally provide a resume and proof of employment along with Program Head approval; the program is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
