Overview

Brock University's Game Design program, known as GAME and offered through the Faculty of Humanities, leads to a Bachelor of Arts built around the practical craft of making games — shaping player experiences, producing game art, overseeing production, and building the mechanical systems that drive gameplay. The program runs concurrently at Brock and Niagara College and examines the creative and cultural side of games alongside their history, platforms, and design traditions and production methods, together with core questions such as play, agency, narrative, dynamics, and immersion. Intensive production courses run across the second, third, and fourth years, in which students work in teams to build game components, prototypes, and complete games. Career paths connected to the degree include game designer, concept artist, asset designer, 3D modeller, and game writer. The program suits students drawn to the creative, technical, and production sides of game-making rather than a narrowly technical computer-science route.
