Overview
Computer Game Development is a stream within Carleton University's Bachelor of Computer Science, focused on the principles and practice of designing and developing computer games, drawing on computer graphics and software engineering. Introductory coursework covers computer science fundamentals such as algorithm design, control structures, variables and procedural programming, while upper-year courses cover the design and implementation of modern game engines, including 3D scene rendering, physics simulation, animation, game AI and multiplayer systems, culminating in a game development project. A Co-op option provides paid work terms for employability skill development and workplace experience. Graduates find roles in biotechnology, business, computer game development, multimedia design, software design and development, software security analysis, systems security analysis, and web services and infrastructure, drawing on Ottawa's high-tech sector and federal government departments and agencies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including a minimum of six 4U or M courses. The six 4U or M courses must include Advanced Functions, and Calculus and Vectors.
