Brock University's BSc in Game Programming, offered jointly with Niagara College through the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, prepares students to build and lead in the creation of video games, covering the programming that makes a game function alongside design, production planning, and management. Students develop skills in game mechanics, artificial intelligence, character behaviour, in-game physics, and user-interface interaction, while also studying issues such as play, agency, narrative, and immersion. Core computer science courses common to most computer science degrees are included, and intensive production courses run in years two through four, in which students work in collaborative teams to build game components, prototypes, and complete games. It is a four-year degree leading to career paths in gameplay and engine development, game systems design, networking and AI development, and user-interface development.
