Earth Sciences is a Bachelor's programme offered by Carleton University's Department of Earth Sciences, in the Faculty of Science, studying the Earth's systems by integrating physics, biology and chemistry. Students examine processes such as the evolution of the biosphere, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, plate tectonics and mountain building, along with the Earth's economic resources, to understand the planet's geologic past, present environment and future. An Environmental Geoscience concentration is available. The programme combines in-class lectures with hands-on field courses across Ontario, Canada and internationally, along with laboratory exercises and research projects. Graduates meet the university-requirement component for registration with Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO). A Co-op option provides paid work terms for employability skill development and workplace experience.
