Humanities and Biology, known as the BioHums stream, combines Carleton University's Bachelor of Humanities curriculum with training in biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. The program consists of eight credits in Science, nine credits in Humanities, and three elective credits. Students may choose between a mathematics- and laboratory-intensive version or a less intensive version, depending on their plans for further study such as medical school. The program is delivered through small class sizes with discussion-based learning. Humanities coursework follows the College of the Humanities' Great Books approach, covering art, philosophy, history, literature, and related subjects, while Science coursework covers foundational biology, chemistry, and biochemistry content. The program prepares graduates for further study in the health professions, sciences, or humanities, as well as careers requiring both scientific literacy and broad interdisciplinary training.
