This program is a stream within the Bachelor of Computer Science, delivered in Ottawa, focused on the methodologies and techniques used to design, implement and validate large-scale, cost-effective software systems. Students learn to develop reliable, modifiable software, with coursework spanning software design, implementation practices and system validation rather than isolated coding tasks. A paid Co-op option is available, giving students the opportunity to build employability skills, explore career options and graduate with workplace experience before entering the job market. The stream sits alongside Carleton's other Bachelor of Computer Science specializations and is intended for students aiming for careers as software engineers or in related software-development roles within the technology sector. It provides a foundation for further study or professional work in software engineering practice, distinct from Carleton's separate Bachelor of Engineering programs.
