Overview
Soins infirmiers / infirmieres auxiliaires (180.B0) is a three-year, six-semester Diplome d'etudes collegiales (DEC) bridging pathway that lets holders of the Diplome d'etudes professionnelles (DEP) in Sante, assistance et soins infirmiers (licensed practical nurses) complete the full nursing DEC. The 2,175-hour program builds on DEP-level competencies and covers human anatomy and physiology, clinical assessment and interpretation, pediatric and maternal nursing, microbiology, the social determinants of health, and care of vulnerable populations, combining classroom instruction with laboratory work and supervised clinical placements. A part-time, hybrid formula spread over three years is available for students combining the program with university studies. Graduates must pass the licensing examination of the Ordre des infirmieres et infirmiers du Quebec (OIIQ) to practise as registered nurses.
