Overview
Cégep de Baie-Comeau is a public general and vocational college (CEGEP) founded in 1967, serving the Manicouagan area of Quebec's Côte-Nord region from its campus on Boulevard Blanche in Baie-Comeau.
As the region's main post-secondary institution, it welcomes several hundred students each year into pre-university programs in natural science, social science, and arts and communication, alongside technical diplomas in nursing, pharmacy technology, pre-hospital emergency care, forest management, civil and electrical engineering technology, police technology, early childhood education, and business administration. The college also runs continuing-education attestations (AEC) in fields such as business administration, social work intervention, and childhood education, many delivered online to reach learners across the vast Côte-Nord territory.
A distinctive strength is its applied focus on the boreal forest and natural resources: the college operates FER Comeau, a dedicated teaching and research forest, and hosts CEDFOB, a college technology transfer centre supporting the region's forestry and wood-products industry. Cégep de Baie-Comeau also provides dedicated support services for Indigenous students, reflecting its role serving nearby First Nations communities, and hosts international students drawn by its technical and pre-university offerings.
Through these programs, the college trains the technicians, nurses, and professionals who sustain Manicouagan's economy and public services.
