Diploma in Land Use Planning and Urban Development

Land Use Planning and Urban Development (Techniques d'aménagement et d'urbanisme, 222.A0) is a three-year technical diploma that trains students to carry out land-use and urban planning projects, combining office-based drafting with fieldwork. Coursework covers reading and producing site plans, applying municipal and provincial regulations and standards, geomatics, and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD). The program uses a segmented training structure, allowing students to earn interim technical certifications at points along the three years rather than only at completion. Graduates work as urban planning technicians, municipal inspectors, government land-use planning technicians, or cartographers using geomatics and CAD tools. The program leads to a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) and can lead to further university study in related fields such as geography or urban planning.
