Radiological Technology (Technologie de radiodiagnostic, 142.H0) is a three-year technical diploma that trains students to produce diagnostic images using ionizing radiation and other imaging technologies, following medical prescriptions, for a range of patient populations. Training covers general radiography, bone densitometry, mammography, fluoroscopy, angiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, using digital imaging rooms, mobile radiography and fluoroscopy units, a bone densitometer, a mammography unit, a CT scanner, and an MRI simulator. Students begin clinical exposure, including site visits and placements, from the first year, with practical training and internships making up an increasing share of instruction each year. The program leads to a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) and prepares graduates to work as medical imaging technologists in radiodiagnostic imaging, in hospitals, CLSCs, private imaging clinics, specialized medical imaging companies, or the Canadian Armed Forces. Graduates must pass the admission exam of the Ordre des technologues en imagerie medicale, en radio-oncologie et en electrophysiologie medicale du Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) to practise, and must hold professional order membership.
