Overview
L’étudiant ou l’étudiante se familiarise avec la visualisation de l’anatomie à trois dimensions et y développe son raisonnement spatial. Il ou elle apprend à déterminer les divers plans de coupe acquis en échographie. Cela permet de faire la distinction entre les données normales ou anormales et de déterminer l’orientation de la sonde échographique en relation avec l’image diagnostique et la partie de l’anatomie étant interrogée. En laboratoire, l’étudiant ou l’étudiante développe la technique main-œil, ce qui lui permet d’obtenir des images diagnostiques échographiques de qualité, tout en respectant le principe ALARA. Par le biais d’études de cas, chacun apprend à faire une analyse des données et à pratiquer la rédaction d’une impression technique en fonction de données fournies provenant d’examens échographiques variés, et ce, de façon à assurer une interprétation juste par un radiologue. Les concepts enseignés dans ce cours sont renforcés par des activités d’apprentissage et celles pratiquées en laboratoire entourant la prise d’images diagnostiques échographiques relatives aux organes et structures suivantes : le rétropéritoine, les gros vaisseaux, le pancréas, le foie, les voies et la vésicule biliaire permettant de faire le lien entre la qualité de l’examen et les concepts de la physique et de l’instrumentation. L’étudiante ou l’étudiant met en pratique les principes ergonomiques tout au long des examens.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This postgraduate-certificate programme admits through two routes. Route 1: a diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate, or bachelor's degree in a medical or health-related field, including at least two courses in human anatomy and physiology, one course in human pathology, and three further health-related courses, each completed at a minimum grade of 70%. Route 2: a diploma or bachelor's degree in a regulated health profession plus at least two years of experience (minimum 3,000 clinical hours), documented by an employer attestation of job title, duration, total clinical hours, and registration with a recognised Canadian professional order. Applicants without an Ontario Secondary School Diploma must meet an English requirement of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6, or the college's PAET certificate at a minimum of 50% in specialised courses; the programme separately expects good oral and written communication in both French and English. Before clinical placement, students must also hold current first-aid/CPR (Level C) certification, up-to-date immunisations (two-step Mantoux tuberculin test, Hepatitis B vaccine), a clear criminal record check, a current WHMIS certificate, and a respirator fit-test.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (OCAS/SACO): Collège Boréal opens its admission cycle each October for programmes starting the following fall or winter, and for its limited-enrolment (contingenté) programmes the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, after which files are ranked first-come, first-served and may be waitlisted; accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027 with the tuition deposit due 15 June 2027. International applicants apply through the SIA/OCAS international portal and face no fixed deadline, but Boréal recommends filing at least three months ahead: 1 June for the autumn session and 1 October for the winter session. Admission outside contingenté programmes is otherwise rolling until seats fill. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
