Overview
Urban Studies examines how residential and commercial areas, community spaces, public services and transportation work together to shape a city's character, covering the socio-cultural, economic and physical dimensions of urban development, statistical data analysis, and computerized mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Students complete in-depth, year-long projects through the Advanced Urban Laboratory. The program is offered as a 42-credit Major or a 30-credit Minor. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus in Montreal and admission in the Fall or Winter term. The program suits students interested in city planning, public policy, geography or further graduate study in urban-related fields.
