Overview

French proficiency is a competitive advantage whether you're considering it for personal enrichment, travel, or career advancement. This program will prepare you to speak, read, write, and listen at an upper intermediate level of French. You'll progress from introductory French to developing written and spoken French language through critical observation of media, realistic conversations, social activities, and exploration of French in today's business world. This program will prepare you to write the Diplôme d'études en langue française (DELF) test at the upper intermediate level.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to this part-time certificate is set on Conestoga's continuing-education program page: applicants must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or be 19 years of age or older. The page does not state any English-language test requirement -- no IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score is published, and no separate language-requirements page is referenced from this listing. No further conditions such as a portfolio, interview, prior work experience, or criminal-record check are mentioned. Applicants apply through Ontario Colleges (ontariocolleges.ca) and pay the fee there; the page states that final selection is made following an assessment of the admission requirements rather than through a ranked or competitive-average process, and no minimum grade average is quoted.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published.
