Food Processing Technician is a two-year accelerated Ontario College Diploma delivered in hybrid format over four consecutive terms, starting each January. The program covers industrial maintenance, drawings and schematics, machine technology, pumps, valves, motor controls, and programmable logic controllers, along with an introduction to food science, food processing methods, food safety, and the principles of food manufacturing. Students gain hands-on experience with industrial food processing equipment at the Institute of Food Processing Technology's semi-industrial lab facility on the Cambridge campus. Eligible students can apply for an optional co-operative education work term in their third term of study in place of the Guided Career Management course. Graduates are prepared for industry positions in food and beverage manufacturing, supporting the operation, maintenance, and sanitation of equipment involved in producing food products.
