Program details

Overview

The diploma covers reservations and tourism operations, together with marketing, coordinating events, and digital tools including data analytics and blockchain. Students apply this learning through practical projects, field trips in the local area, visits from industry speakers and an optional co-op placement, building toward the certifications and industry knowledge needed in tourism, with preparation to write the ACTA and TICO exams required for travel advisor certification.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or applicant age 19 or older with mature-student status. Conestoga asks for Grade 12 compulsory English at C or U level, or equivalent, or its own Preparatory Communications (COMM1251), plus Grade 11 Mathematics at C, M (University/College) or U level, or equivalent, or Preparatory Mathematics (MATH1420). Applicants whose prior instruction was not in English must demonstrate English-language proficiency; the programme page does not itself publish a domestic test-score table, so the evidence required follows Conestoga's general English-proficiency and credential-evaluation policy, and Canadian citizens or permanent residents with transcripts from outside Canada need a course-by-course evaluation from a service such as ICAS or WES. Prior service-industry experience and strong communication skills are noted as assets. To be considered for the optional co-op stream, students must achieve a minimum 70% session-weighted average with no dropped or failed courses; international students additionally need a valid work permit to participate in co-op.
