Program details

Overview

This is a Bachelor of Science degree, a first-cycle program in distributed computing (program code 6646), totaling 90 credits. It is delivered full-time in French at the ÉTS Montréal campus and includes a single mandatory, paid four-month co-op work term worth 9 credits. Admission is offered for the Fall intake with an August 1 deadline, and the program carries no enrollment cap. It is intended for students entering with a Quebec college diploma (DEC) or an equivalent qualification who are prepared to study primarily in French. Compared with ÉTS's engineering bachelor's degrees, this credential is shorter and is built around a single co-op placement rather than three recurring work terms, giving it a more compact structure. The program suits students who want a focused, campus-based science degree with one period of paid, supervised industry experience integrated into the course of study, rather than a longer, multi-co-op engineering degree. As a first-cycle credential, it positions graduates for entry-level roles in computing or for further study at the graduate level.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Bachelor of Distributed Computing admits technical-DEC holders from an approved list: Industrial Maintenance Technology (241.D0), Ordonnanced/Automated Systems Technology (243.A0), Electronics Technology (243.B0), Industrial Electronics Technology (243.C0), Avionics Techniques (280.D0), and Computer Techniques (420.A0/420.B0), plus Multimedia Integration Techniques (582.A1); all must pass mandatory diagnostic tests. Holders of another technical DEC, or of a science-based pre-university DEC (200.B0, 200.B1, 200.C0, 200.C1), are admitted after ÉTS's "cheminement universitaire en technologie" informatics specialty (minimum cumulative average 2.30/4.30) or with 15 or 30 pre-approved technical college units respectively. From age 21, relevant knowledge and experience are evaluated by committee. Teaching is in French under ÉTS's first-cycle language-policy directive, which sets no minimum test score. The program is non-contingented, admitting for the Fall session only, and includes one mandatory paid internship.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: Domestic (Canadian/Quebec) applicants to ETS must apply by August 1 for the Fall (Automne) trimester, December 1 for Winter (Hiver), and April 1 for Summer (Ete) entry -- fixed annual deadlines that ETS republishes each year without tying them to a specific admission year. International applicants face earlier cutoffs: March 1 for Fall entry (May 15 for doctoral applicants), July 1 for Winter entry (September 15 for doctoral), and December 1 for Summer entry (January 15 for doctoral). ETS does not describe admission as rolling; late international applications for doctoral or thesis-based master's programs may still be considered with a research supervisor's recommendation, subject to immigration processing timelines. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
