Overview
Alongside classroom instruction, students practice in the college's community pharmacy lab and complete a four-month placement in community and long-term care pharmacy settings. The program also includes a two-day Introductory Compounding Bootcamp workshop leading to a PCCA certificate, covering specialized compounding equipment, the creation of alternative dosage forms, and standards of practice around safety, product quality and personal protective equipment.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or admission as a mature applicant, with a minimum grade of 65% in Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (U or M) or Grade 12 Math (C or U); applicants short of this standard may pursue academic upgrading with a conditional offer once proof of enrolment is provided. Grade 11 or 12 Biology and Chemistry (C or U) are recommended but not mandatory. International applicants must present one of: TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with no band below 4; IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5; CAEL overall 60 with no band below 50; PTE Academic 53 with no band below 45; or Duolingo overall 105 with no component below 95. The program also recommends, but does not require, a minimum 40 wpm keyboarding speed and prior pharmacy volunteer or shadowing experience.
