Overview
In addition to classroom instruction, you’ll practice in Fanshawe’s brand new, state-of-the-art community pharmacy lab and complete a 4-month placement where you’ll get valuable, real-world experience working as a vital member of both community and long-term care pharmacy environments. Your learning experience will include a unique opportunity to achieve PCCA’s Introductory Compounding Bootcamp certificate: this two-day workshop will facilitate access to specialized compounding equipment to create alternative dosage forms and discuss safety, product quality, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other standards of practice affiliated with professional pharmacy compounding.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or admission as a mature applicant, with a minimum grade of 65% in Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (U or M) or Grade 12 Math (C or U); applicants short of this standard may pursue academic upgrading with a conditional offer once proof of enrolment is provided. Grade 11 or 12 Biology and Chemistry (C or U) are recommended but not mandatory. International applicants must present one of: TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with no band below 4; IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5; CAEL overall 60 with no band below 50; PTE Academic 53 with no band below 45; or Duolingo overall 105 with no component below 95. The program also recommends, but does not require, a minimum 40 wpm keyboarding speed and prior pharmacy volunteer or shadowing experience.
